Chandigarh, July 20

Private bus operators have sought intervention of the state government to save them from financial ruin. They say that they are on the verge of ruin because of the free bus travel facility to women and the bus fares not being hiked.

The issues were raised by the Private Bus Operators’ Association at a press conference here today. Former minister Avtar Henry, who is the president of Punjab Motor Union, said the condition of all bus operators was pitiable and they were under debt. ” If the government fails to resolve our issues before July 31, we will become tax defaulters and the government can impound our buses or the bankers can repossess our buses,” said Rajinder Singh Bajwa, secretary of the union.
